Laundry Detergent Strips Frequently Asked Questions

We are proud to say that when we launched our website back in 2020, Biocasa was one of the first places selling the innovative and sustainable concept of Laundry strips in Australia.

Despite many new players that have now launched a similar product on the market, we are still selling the original Laundry Strips invented in Canada and recently added one more scent to our offer.

If you are new to this concept and are curious to know more or if you have used the strips before but are unsure about something, we have compiled a list of the most frequent asked questions that will help you make the switch to a new eco-friendly way of doing your laundry!

Where are Biocasa Laundry detergent strips made?

Unfortunately, there are no manufacturers in Australia that can supply us Australian Made laundry strips, therefore we have chosen Dizolve, the original laundry strips Canadian producer. The fresh linen / fragrance free / baby & delicates laundry strips are a True Earth product made in Canada - by Dizolve® Group Corporation, under stringent health regulations.

We have recently added to our offer a new Spring Flower 2 in 1 detergent and softener formula made in South Korea.

Why Laundry strips are better than other detergents?

Our Laundry Detergent Sheets have been proven to be effective on the toughest stains, are delicate on colours and make your whites brilliant. They have a smaller eco – footprint than liquid detergent by being 100% plastic free and ultra-concentrated. This means all the water and un-necessary ingredients have been removed, making it super lightweight and therefore reducing transportation fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

They also have cleaner ingredients than most powder detergent and provide a pre-measured detergent quantity for your laundry! There won’t be any need to measure your detergent anymore (and no more spills to clean!) making them the best solution for people with visual impairment or disabilities.

How do I use Biocasa Laundry Detergent Strips?

Each sheet of laundry detergent comes pre-scored into two strips. Detach on strip and place it in your drum if you have a top loader machine or in the main cycle soap dispenser if you have a front loader. We recommend tearing the strip into smaller pieces to help it dissolve quicker.

One strip is enough for one load of average dirty clothes, ranging from 4 to 7kg. If you have a smaller load, you can use only half a strip, if your load is particularly dirty or stained, you might have to use two strips.

Do Biocasa laundry strips dissolve in cold water?

Our laundry strips dissolve so easily in both hot and cold water that can be used also for your delicate cold handwashing. Don’t be mistaken by their smaller size, these laundry strips really work, check out their 5 stars reviews!

Why don’t the strips create a lot of lather?

Despite a common misconception, a higher amount of bubbles does not equal to a better cleaning power. On the contrary, foaming agents have been proved to create damages to the aquatic system and an excess of sulphates can cause blue-green algae outbreaks which lower level of oxygen in the water and are dangerous for the river ecosystem. Our laundry strips are phosphates free.

Do Biocasa laundry detergent strips work well with hard water?

The surfactants included in any washing detergent break up stains and disperse the dirt that doesn’t dissolve in water. They are categorised as anionic and non-ionic.

Anionic surfactants contain negatively charged molecules that help them remove dirt and greasy but don’t perform well in hard water as the higher levels of minerals such as magnesium and calcium prevent them from working properly.

Non-ionic surfactants have molecules with no electrical charge and are indicated if you live in areas with hard water.

If we look at the ingredients of our laundry detergent strips, you’ll see how they include both anionic and non-ionic cleaning agents, making them the best allrounder eco-friendly laundry detergent!

  • Cocamido propyl betaine: coconut oil based, biodegradable amphoteric surfactant
  • Sodium Gluconate: plant-derived and food-grade, biodegradable water softener that prevents soil from resettling on fabric after it has been removed during washing

  • Sulfonic acids, C14-16-alkane hydroxy and C14-16-alkene, sodium salts: biodegradable surfactant
  • Glycereth cocoate: plant derived and food grade, biodegradable water softener
